It has been a busy first few weeks of the semester. As we all adjust to the dynamics of a new academic year, we want to remind students of the following:
- It is a crime if you are 21 and older and you furnish alcohol to a minor.
- Please be mindful that actions have consequences. Damage to exit signs or other property damage in residence halls is not acceptable. Our colleagues inFacilities are tasked with fixing and cleaning up spaces. We all get to work and learn within a beautiful campus. Let’s all do our part to maintain it.
- Resident assistants have a difficult job. Balancing their relationships with classmates and trying to keep order on the floor can present challenges. When they call us, we respond to support the RA in ensuring a safe environment within the residence halls.
- Finally, please be mindful of the quiet hours within residence halls.
We are looking forward to attending a meeting with Bucknell Student Government on Sept. 25. Our new assistant director of community engagement, Jamie Grobes, will be there to meet students and answer questions about our department.
We are continuing our work to meet students where they are and build positive relationships. The dunk tank event at Uptown on Sept. 2 and the Coffee with Public Safety on Sept. 7 are examples of our daily focus on positive interactions with students, faculty and staff.
I want to encourage the campus community to take advantage of some of the training opportunities that we offer. We can adjust the training to fit your schedules and needs. Training is available in the following areas:
- De-escalation
- Workplace violence mitigation
- Active Shooter
- Personal self-efense
- Crime deterrence strategies
To learn more about any of these programs, please contact publicsafety@bucknell.edu.
Finally, you may be interested to learn more about how Public Safety participates in continuous training sessions as part of our commitment to campus safety. The table below lists our recent departmental trainings, which cover a wide variety of areas and help ensure we are well prepared to serve our community.

Good Morning Bonnie
We have towed a vehicle. We have issued 1,200 citations so far with around 450 going to students for parking in staff lots. We continue to address this issue.
