Violent Critical Incident Training – Sept. 23, 2025
On Tuesday, Sept. 23, we will offer two open training sessions for the campus community focused on violent critical incident preparedness. Both sessions will be held in Larison Dining:
- Noon–1 p.m.
- 7 p.m.–8 p.m.
These sessions will provide instruction in the ALICE model (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) and are open to all members of the Bucknell community. We encourage faculty, staff and students to attend.
As a supplement to the in-person training, we also encourage the community to review several short videos available in the BSAFE app. To access them:
- Log in to the BSAFE app.
- Navigate to Emergency Plans > Active Shooter.
These videos offer helpful guidance for emergency preparedness and situational awareness.
Unfortunately, as the new academic year begins, many institutions across the country are experiencing a rise in swatting incidents — hoax calls designed to provoke fear and emergency response. These incidents are increasingly sophisticated, often using AI and VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) to place false calls to law enforcement dispatch centers via non-911 lines. While these calls are hoaxes, the initial law enforcement response must treat each as a credible threat until proven otherwise.
Given this context, it is more important than ever that members of our community understand our lockdown protocols, notification procedures, and how law enforcement will respond. We strongly encourage attendance at one of the Sept. 23 sessions. You may also contact us to request a separate training.
Release of the 2025 Clery Report
Bucknell has released the 2025 Clery Report, which is now available to the campus community. The report can be accessed via the following link:
👉 View the 2025 Clery Report
As required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Bucknell publishes this report annually, prior to Oct. 1. Our report includes both the Annual Security Report (ASR) and the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR) in a single, comprehensive document. It provides information about campus safety policies, procedures and crime statistics for the previous three years.
We encourage all faculty, staff and students to review this important document as part of our shared commitment to maintaining a safe and informed campus community.
Student Advisory Committee – Call for Members
We are currently seeking students to join the Student Advisory Committee for Public Safety. If you are interested in campus safety topics such as parking, emergency preparedness or other related concerns, we invite you to get involved.
This is a great opportunity for students to have a meaningful role and voice in shaping public safety operations at Bucknell.
Interested students should contact Assistant Director Jamie Grobes at jg062@bucknell.edu.
Workday & RAVE Alert System Integration for Employees Only
Beginning Sept. 1, the primary phone number listed in the Home Contact Information section of each employee’s Workday profile will automatically sync with the RAVE emergency alert system. This integration ensures that the most current contact information will be used for emergency notifications.
What you need to do before Sept. 1:
- Log in to Workday, navigate to your profile, and confirm that the primary phone number in your Home Contact Information is accurate and up-to-date.
⚠️ Important: If your Workday record does not include a primary phone number, it will be flagged for follow-up.
Optional: You may add up to two additional phone numbers (e.g., for a spouse or family member) to your RAVE profile to receive alerts.
To add additional numbers:
- Visit RAVE Alert.
- Log in using Bucknell SSO.
- Navigate to the Mobile Phones section.
- Do not edit or delete the first number — this is the number synced from Workday.
- Click Add to input a second and/or third mobile number.
- Complete the verification steps as prompted.
📌 Note: Existing numbers in your RAVE account will not carry over. Only the primary number from Workday will be automatically added. Any additional numbers must be re-entered manually.
