Annual Clery Report
Bucknell University has released the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report on September 1st, 2026. The Clery Act requires institutions receiving federal funds to publish the report by October 1st of each year. At Bucknell a cross functional Clery team with membership from Student Affairs, Title 9, General Counsel Office, Communications, and Public Safety work collaboratively to complete the annual report. I am thankful for their work.

September Test of the Emergency Alert System
One of the requirements of the Clery Act is for institutions to test their emergency alert system. We conduct a minimum of two tests a year, during the fall semester, and again in the spring. At Bucknell we have the capability depending on the emergency to alert the community through phone calls, text messages, emails, outside siren system, through the BSAFE app, and through screen takeover of certain Bucknell owned devices. On Sep 10, 2026 At 12pm we will engage in a full function test of the system.
Scooters
As a reminder they are not legal on PA public roads or sidewalks. You can be issued a citation for riding them in PA. The institution has a scooter policy which can be found by clicking the following link: Viewing ON-CAMPUS USE OF BICYCLES AND ELECTRIC SCOOTERS While scooter enforcement is a lower priority for us we caution scooter users to operate within the existing policy. Unsafe behaviors and other actions can elevate this into something we would need to engage in stricter enforcement on. We hope to avoid having to take a different approach and engage in strict enforcement of PA laws.
Athletic Events Bag Policy
Starting with home football games for both Bucknell and Lewisburg the bag policy below will be in effect. In addition at the entrance into the stadium we will have an Open Gate device that all spectators will need to walk through. Please know these changes are being made to enhance the safety and security of the venue. The safety of visitors, guests, and the Bucknell community is of utmost importance. Changes are not made in a vacuum and thoughtful consideration is given recognizing there will always be an impact to implementing enhanced safety measures.
