September 2023

The shooting on the campus of UNC Chapel on August 28th is another senseless and tragic act resulting in the loss of life. Over the summer members of Bucknell Public Safety engaged in an active shooter drill on campus with our local law enforcement partners. We had federal assessors on hand to offer their assistance and technical expertise. Please know the members of Bucknell Public Safety are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our campus. This summer our Officers created several videos for students, faculty, and staff related to active shooter response. We are in the process of adding these building specific videos in mediaspace for the campus community to access. I encourage all members of the community to reach out to us at publicsafety@bucknell.edu to go through our active shooter training. In the meantime, these videos are meant to provide some information that is easily accessible to our community. We will have links to them in the BSAFE App soon. Parking

As we move through the beginning of the semester we are seeing a noticeable decrease in some parking violations. We know the change to pulling into Bucknell parking spaces is not popular with some members of our community. I want to thank you for compliance as we work towards equitable parking enforcement practices. As we start the new semester we have already towed three vehicles and we want to remind our community to please follow the parking rules.

Student Advisory Committee

We are looking for students to join our Public Safety Student Advisory Committee. If you are a student interested in learning more about Public Safety operations, having voice and input within your police department, I encourage you to contact Assistant Director Jamie Grobes to learn more jg062@bucknell.edu.

Community Engagement

We look forward to interacting with many of our students at athletic events and other campus activities during the month of September. We are hosting a free Narcan training on September 12, 2023 from 6pm to 6:45pm in the ELC forum. On September 15th we are participating in a panel discussion. We look forward to hosting an event with Digger our new therapy dog in early October with free food!

Please use the QR Codes below to learn more register for the Narcan training, provide feedback on the department, follow us on Instagram, or download the BSAFE App.
